3/27/2014 Baptism and Covenants UNTO Repentance

“All saints have a past, all sinners have a future.”

Go through the studies in this training, then write a 5 paragraph summary of what you learned and send it to me.

Also, report after Sunday how your Sabbath observance has changed after receiving insights from God and applying them from this training.

GROUP STUDY: 3-4 people 

- What is the state of our soul? (5-7 min)

    - Mosiah 2:20-24, 4:5,19

    - Moses 1:9-10

    - Helaman 12:1-5

    - 2 Nephi 9:27-38, 47 

    - Alma 36:11-16 

- what role does repentance play in our escape? (40 min)

    - Read "The Doctrine of Repentance" from Elder Christofferson (This is from Mission president seminar and can be checked out from Lisanne Murphy)  You could also read, “The Divine Gift or Repentance” from Elder Christofferson from General Conference.

PERSONAL STUDY: (20 min)

- what role does the sacrament play in recognition of our state and our escape?

    - 3 Nephi 18:1-25, 20:1-9

    - Moroni 4:3, 5:2

    - BD: Sabbath 

GOAL SETTING AND PLANNING: (15 min) 

- Pray to understand how you personally need to prepare for the personal rescue of the sacrament weekly?

- Pray to understand how you personally need to follow up with the goals and plans you set with the Lord weekly? 

CONCLUSION: 

- 1 Nephi 8:30 -  notice the nature of falling down to partake of the fruit 

This demonstrates our great need for repentance and covenants in order to stay at the tree.

Intro: In this training we revisited every training we have done this semester and spent the training practicing and ensuring that the purpose is deep in our understanding.

Practice:
1. Teach lesson 1 or 2 briefly in such a way as to lead someone to have Faith Unto Repentance
2. Consider a time when a missionary or someone you love has not kept an invitation….
     - Select a doctrine to teach them in such a way that will inspire them to have faith unto repentance. 

Evaluation:
     - What evidence that you have that they are experiencing faith unto repentance in order to bring about the great plan of redemption?

MISSIONARY PURPOSE - BIG PICTURE

PRACTICE:
1. Teach the Doctrine of Christ to your partner - 2 X each
2. Coach a missionary in a purpose centered manner
    a. Missionaries don't know how to teach an investigator a certain doctrine
    b. Missionaries are not having effective studies
    c. Missionaries are totally stuck on getting investigator to just DO things
    d. Missionaries just talk and talk and talk about the topics in lessons
EVALUATION:
    - Hyrum Smith p.6 PMG: What added knowledge about the purpose did you receive as you taught or coached?
    - Evidence the purpose was fulfilled - use p. 6
